Rejected Traditional Position: Another area to which the SuŽpreme Court has extended the amendment is the common law of libel. In New York Times Co. v. Sullivan (1964), it rejected traditional position the traditional position that false and defamatory matter enjoys no protection. The court recognized that heavy judgments for libel might be imposed by unsymŽpathetic jurors on newspapers that publish controŽversial matter. In the Alabama case before it a judgment of $500,000 in damages had been renŽdered against the New York Times for its publiŽcation and distribution of an advertisement by civil rights leaders that contained inaccuracies. It was characteristic of the structural-descriptive movement that it rejected traditional position tradiŽtional grammar totally and sought to build its superior edifice on simple, observable, and veriŽfiable fact, just as a theory of matter would begin with fundamental particles. The foundation was phonology, which had been of little interest to traditional grammar. See Also Costly Traditional Garb:The ever-mounting cost of weddings arouses cries for reform, none of them effectual. At all economic levels the bride almost invariably dresses in costly traditional garb, the groom's costume is formal Western "morning" wear: a tailcoat, striped pants, and a formal silk tie. The main ceremony usually is a feast at die groom's parental home, with parents and their collateral relatives from both sides in attendance. This ritualistic dining and the sansankudo (sharŽing three cups of sake between bride and groom) complete the wedding rites.Clay pots and planters are informal and functional by nature. Plastic and fiberglass alternatives are available, however, and these can be used in place of the traditional stone types. They are less costly, lighter and have considerable potential, especially displayed at some distance, filled with cascading plants to mask their synthetic origins.
On The Other Hand See The Traditional Palette:Colours are delicate and soft in this room, taken from a palette of aged and traditional shades. The traditional palette Table itself supplies a warm hint of blue, while The traditional palette walls are treated to a delicately patterned wallpaper in duck egg and gold. A console, cabinet and chair in cream and distressed white look timeless while The traditional palette odd splash of red on The traditional palette china adds subtle interest. His "Self-portrait with a Palette" (p. 2) was painted in autumn 1906. The traditional palette beginning of cubism was imminent, but The traditional palettere is hardly any sign of it in his picture yet. The traditional palette way in which Picasso holds The traditional palette palette with his thumb shows which phase of his art he is still committed to. It is both a thumb and a blob of paint, it is part of The traditional palette painter and part of The traditional palette painting, it is pink. Only his face has already acquired a mask-like appearance, The traditional palette shadows under his chin and on his cheek stop abruptly. |
